Journey to the center of “I” – Chirag Patel December 28, 2011

At unknown time, started my journey wearing solitude
With some thoughts sprung from some corner of heart.

This soil, this river, this hill, this vegetation, this sky,
This breeze; kept asking me.
I am not within and I am not outside in this world.
Who else was echoing here then? How long? Why?

This sun, this moon, this galaxy, these nebulae,
These constellations; kept looking at me puzzled.
Nobody is mine and I am for nobody.
Why did I rise in this world unnecessarily then?

These books, this outstretching of words, this penance,
This meditation; kept shaking my sleep.
There is no end and there is no beginning.
Why did I start journey towards inner self then?

All of a sudden, you came to this vacuum one day.
Sweetheart, dazzling light filled all directions and I disappeared.
Only you were seen, love bound, devotional, adorable;
And God materialized in your shadow.

I found my world, I knew everything then.
I exist if you do and you exist if I do for sure.
If we exist, this world does and so does God.
And hence, this play with myriad hues exists.
That is what controls everything and puppets are we.
Sometimes, we pull the strings;
And sometimes, we let them loose.

Now, I know duality, non-duality and special duality.

Your love, your devotion, your faith, your company,
For me; how would I be incomplete then?

Earthquake baby – Chirag Patel Sep. 20, 2011

On January 26th, 2001; there was a very big earthquake in western part of India (state of Gujarat). I and my wife – Parul were there (Vadodara – our home city) at that time. My wife was 2 months pregnant by then. We were having tea and breakfast in the morning. All of a sudden, the walls started shaking and the floor literally felt wavy. We all rushed outside of house. There was a big green belt area(space left amidst buildings as playground/park) in front. We all gathered there. There were neighbors already present there and some were rushing. It was 7.7 magnitude earthquake which killed more than 19000 people (more info – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_Gujarat_earthquake). We felt it for approximately 1 minute. There were buildings shaking. The roads looked wavy. The high tension line cables shook so dangerously that we all were scared of them being broken (they were some 100 miters from where we stood). My wife was still shaking. My parents, brother, sister – all were feeling the calamity. We went in the house after some 15 minutes. Everything went back to normal. In the whole state of Gujarat, Vadodara had the least damage and no death! The city was saved due to calcium rich land surrounding the region. It was India’s Republic day and also engagement day of my wife’s brother. What a day!

I still feel aftershocks occasionally in form of some mischief done by my son – Vrund . He is our Earthquake Baby!

This whole incident was revived when I felt earthquake right in King of Prussia office on August 23rd, 2011 (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/se082311a.php). I also felt aftershocks within 2 minutes of the incident.

After reading above article, my heart cried and I wrote the following:

O BHARAT!
My mother

I escaped in search of comfort
Sitting on cozy cushions
Typing on Macbook Pro screen
Watching kids play XBOX 360
Having options to throw gallons of milk
Shivering in high A/C blows
Worrying about depleting balance in crores

Brothers and sisters on death bed
Flesh snatched
Hearts crushed
Obsolete eyes deepened
Angry minds burnt
Helpless bodies shook
Weakened stomach emptied

Where is your soul?
How can I find conscience?
Who will give me strength?
What is my path?
Who am I?
Am I ashamed?
Am I joyful?
Should I worry?

O Mother
Give me light
Help me
I am at your feet
Please!
Please!
Please!
O MAA

The Zen of Digital Dilemma – Chirag Patel May 1996

You are familiar with the word Zen (Maruti-Suzuki Zen’s grace!). Some of you may know its actual meaning. Zen is the Buddhist way of living – developed by Japanese and Chinese disciples. Originally, this word was adopted from ધ્યાન (Dhyaana). It was mispronounced as “chan” and then “zen”. The zen of anything is to relate that thing with real life scenario.

The zen followers are very flexible. They do not sneer at the ordinary mortals like you and me. They try to learn something from anything.

The digital electronics is made up of only 0s and 1s. The universe is made up of two particles – Tachyons and Tardyons. The tachyons make matter. The tardyons make antimatter. There is a big confusion here – which one is matter and which one is antimatter. The similar is digital dilemma – whether to use SOP (Sum of Products) or POS (Product of Sums) though both represent the same function.

There are two types of forces – attraction and repulsion. There is always symmetry or non-symmetry in nature. There are two basic colors – white and black. There are two types of creatures – animate and un-animate. There are two genders – male and female. There are two states of a member of our universe – alive or dead. There are two groups of people for any discussion – believers and non-believers. There are various examples still suggesting this digital view of the world.

But, there is always a ‘but’. What can you say about virus? They behave sometimes animated, sometimes not. What about colors? There are more than 33 million colors ranging from white to black. You can believe in something or not or you cannot say anything! There are many examples favoring this notion.

So, there are two possibilities here – whether to choose the digital view of the world or the fuzzy logic view of the world. Here also, the digital rule surpasses the fuzzy logic. Or, is there any in-between possibility? (A big zero!)

See, this is a good example of what an extreme reverence for learning can cause to an innocent Zennist’s mind!
